CERREJON EXPERIENCE
(1986-1998)
For 12 years, Acciones Urbanas was responsible for the maintenance of facilities and roads at Cerrejón, the world’s largest opencast coal mine. The project was a joint venture between the Government of Colombia (50%) and Exxon (50%).
As a Colombian company, Acciones Urbanas provided maintenance services with a dedicated team of 180 professionals, including engineers, superintendents, foremen, heavy equipment operators, mechanics, welders, electricians, plumbers, refrigeration technicians, masons, carpenters, locksmiths, painters, and helpers. Contracts typically lasted 3 years, with a 2-year extension option.
Orlando Cuello, an architect, MBA, and certified general contractor, was the owner of Acciones Urbanas and is now the owner of Urbe Builders Corp.
While this service took place over 20 years ago, it is important to highlight because it involved a diverse range of engineering, architectural, and construction work, providing a solid foundation for the expertise Urbe Builders brings to each project.
